A few years ago, I found myself confronting a thought many of us tend to avoid, what would happen if I were to unexpectedly pass away? Its super clear that there were so many important details my family would need to know—things like life insurance information, bank and savings account access, and even passwords for shared memories stored on platforms like Google Photos and Google Drive. I felt an overwhelming need to ensure that they would have everything they needed to navigate that difficult time.
I started by writing it all down in a old fashioned Word document. However, as I read through it, it felt too impersonal, almost cold. I knew I had to add something more—heartfelt messages to my wife and daughter. It was emotional to write, but I felt it was necessary. I even included something I had often joked about with them, I didn’t want to be buried, but instead, I preferred to be cremated, maybe souds weird but that it, and much easier to write it down than to say it aloud.
Then just printed the document, placed it in an envelope, and hand it to my sister ensuring that she understand the assignment—trusting that, if the worst ever happened, it would help guide my family. That experience sparked the base idea for Wardy!. I wanted to create a service that goes beyond just providing practical information—it’s about preserving my thoughts, memories, and messages. It’s a way to ensure that my loved ones have everything they need, even when I’m no longer here to offer my guidance.
